  31. NOTE: You may have a version of this program without the,  
  32. file "VBRUN300.DLL" provided. If so, only 2 sample pictures
  33. may be provided. This was done to save disk space and download 
  34. time.  VBRUN300.DLL is widely available and in fact may 
  35. already be in your windows directory.  Vbrun300.dll is 
  36. required for this program to function.  It will be necessary 
  37. to obtain a copy of VBRUN300.DLL in order to install and run 
  38. this program.
  39.  
  40.   1. IMAGE MASTER + is a screen saver and image viewer for 
  41.      windows that can use your own images and midi files. 
  42.      IMAGE MASTER can play music from a CD-ROM. Music can 
  43.      play as pictures are being displayed.  You can select 
  44.      Password protection if desired.  Messages can be 
  45.      left on the screen.
  46.   
  47.   2. IMAGE MASTER + can be installed as a standard Window's 
  48.      Screen saver from Window's desk top, or can be used from 
  49.      the Program Group that IMAGE MASTER + makes for windows.
  50.      IMAGE MASTER + can be used as both.
  51.   
  52.   3. IMAGE MASTER + can be used as a screen saver and/or an 
  53.      image viewer. If you have installed IMAGE MASTER + as a 
  54.      screen saver, and want to use it from the program manager 
  55.      to leave a message or make your system password protected 
  56.      while you have to be temporarily away, you can do this by 
  57.      double clicking the IMAGE MASTER + Icon.  If IMAGE MASTER +
  58.      is running from the program manager, it will not invoke 
  59.      itself as a screen saver even if the amount of time has 
  60.      passed to call it as a screen saver from the desktop.
  61.  
  62.   4. IMAGE MASTER + is ideal for corporations that need a screen 
  63.      saver that can use their own pictures or corporate logos.
  64.      It is also ideal for users who want a way to display their
  65.      own images (regardless of format) as a screen saver or 
  66.      as a stand alone program.
  67.               
  68.   5. IMAGE MASTER + is now shipped with CSA, the Calendar - 
  69.      Scheduler - Alarm utility from Accidental Software.  
  70.      This utility provides a quick reference calendar and 
  71.      scheduler.  It also allows you to Set an alarm so that
  72.      items will pop up on your screen when the specified 
  73.      date and time are reached.  NOTE: Touch Start must be
  74.      running for the alarm portion of this application to
  75.      function.  See How do I use the program from the Windows
  76.      Program Manager (#4.) below for information on how to 
  77.      active Touch Start each time windows is started.

  79. How do I install the program?
  80.   
  81.   1. Install IMAGE MASTER + for Windows from a disk.
  82.       
  83.       a. Start Microsoft Windows.
  84.       
  85.       b. Insert the disk in the proper drive. 
  86.       
  87.       c. From the Window's Program Manager, select FILE MENU 
  88.      and choose RUN.
  89.       
  90.       d. Type B:\SETUP and press Enter.  Substitute your 
  91.      drive letter for "B:" if your disk is in a 
  92.      different drive.
  93.  
  94.   2. Install IMAGE MASTER + for Windows from a modem download.
  95.       
  96.       a. Unzip you Image Master archive.
  97.       
  98.       b. Start Microsoft Windows.
  99.       
  100.       c. From the Window's Program Manager, select FILE MENU 
  101.      and choose RUN.
  102.       
  103.       d. Select Browse, then find the drive and directory to 
  104.      which Image Master Plus was downloaded.  Double click
  105.      on the file "SETUP.EXE" then click on the O.K. command
  106.      button.
  107.  
  108.       e. Follow the prompts from the setup program.
  109.  
  110.       f. If the setup asks you how many disks are provided with
  111.      your Image Master + package, select one (1).
  112.  
  113. Trouble shooting.
  114.  
  115.    1. In some cases, if you are using a program that is 
  116.       accessing or using a DLL or other file that IMAGE 
  117.       MASTER + uses and installs, you may receive a message 
  118.       during installation that warns you that a file can not 
  119.       be installed since it is already in use by your system.  
  120.       You can choose Ignore to this warning and the program 
  121.       should install correctly.
  122.    
  123.    2. If you receive a message that tells you the file 
  124.       THREED.VBX cannot be copied, your system already
  125.       has the file THREED.VBX in the windows/system sub
  126.       directory.  Some versions of the file THREED.VBX
  127.       fail version checking by the Image Master + setup program
  128.       and cannot be overwritten.  This will cause the Image 
  129.       Master + setup to fail.  If this occurs, you must remove
  130.       or rename the existing file THREED.VBX already in your
  131.       windows/system subdirectory so that the setup program
  132.       provided with Image Master + can install the newer 
  133.       version of THREED.VBX to your system.
  134.  
  135. How do I make IMAGE MASTER + the active screen saver?
  136.    
  137.    1. Select "yes" to the inquiry during installation that
  138.       asks if you want Image Master + to be installed as the 
  139.       current screen saver.  This will place Image Master +
  140.       as the current screen saver on your system with a 
  141.       5 minute time of inactivity to start the program.
  142.       The 5 minute "time out" will not take effect until  
  143.       windows has been exited and reentered after Image 
  144.       Master + installation.
  145.    
  146.    2. You can select Saver Set Up from the Miscellaneous 
  147.       menu to access the Saver Set Up utility in the program.
  148.       Turn the Image Master + screen saver function on of off
  149.       as well as selecting the amount inactive keyboard or 
  150.       mouse time before the screen saver portion of the program
  151.       starts.
  152.  
  153. Alternative method for making Image Master + the active screen
  154. saver.
  155.  
  156.    1. Once IMAGE MASTER + is successfully installed, it may be 
  157.       selected as the current screen saver from windows.  
  158.       
  159.       a. From the Windows Program Manager, select MAIN.
  160.       
  161.       b. From MAIN  select CONTROL PANEL.
  162.       
  163.       c. From CONTROL PANEL select DESK TOP.
  164.       
  165.       d. From DESK TOP select the arrow key next to SCREEN 
  166.      SAVER.
  167.       
  168.       e. From the menu, select IMAGE MASTER +.
  169.    
  170.    2. The above steps will select IMAGE MASTER + as the 
  171.       current screen saver.  Use the SET UP button to select 
  172.       the features of the program you want.  It is possible to 
  173.       select and preview pictures, MIDI files, and CD-ROM 
  174.       audio.
  175.  
  176.    3. Push the TEST button to run the screen saver program 
  177.       as a test.
  178.    
  179.    4. Select the desired inactive time for the screen saver 
  180.       program to implement itself.
  181.  
  182. How do I use the program from the Windows Program Manager?
  183.  
  184.    1. If the Image Master + program group is not open, double 
  185.       click on the IMAGE MASTER + program group.
  186.  
  187.    2. To run Image Master +, double click on its Icon.
  188.  
  189.    3. The program will start in the Set Up Mode.  Select the 
  190.       options you want, then push the Screen Saver button to 
  191.       start the program.
  192.  
  193.    4. Touch Start:  Double click the Touch Start Icon to 
  194.       activate the touch start hot corners.  A green line
  195.       appears at the bottom left of your screen to indicate
  196.       where to place your mouse to start Image Master +. 
  197.       Touch Start activation can be terminated by moving the
  198.       mouse pointer to the bottom right (red line) of the 
  199.       screen.  Copy the Touch Start Icon to the program 
  200.       manager's Start Up program group to have Touch Start 
  201.       activate each time windows is started.  If the Touch 
  202.       Start check box is activated (Picture Attributes, Utility 
  203.       portion of Image Master + set up), Touch Start will
  204.       reactivate itself after the screen saver portion of
  205.       Image Master + has terminated.
  206.  
  207. What are the program features?
  208.   
  209.   1. Registered users can add up to 500 Bit Map files 
  210.      (500 images) in each of the 10 Slide Shows provided.
  211.      These images can be located in any directory on your 
  212.      hard drive or floppy drives.  You can even us your CD-ROM
  213.      as a source of pictures.  If you have Kodak's Access 
  214.      software, you can use Image master to show you photo CDs.   
  215.   
  216.   2. Registered users can add up to 100 Midi selections for 
  217.      each Slide Show to be played by your midi software as 
  218.      the program displays your pictures. 
  219.   
  220.   3. Set the length of time for the picture to remain on the 
  221.      display before the next one replaces it. This time 
  222.      ranges from 10 seconds to 1 minute.
  223.   
  224.   4. Any image can be used as long as it a PCX or BMP file,
  225.      (UNREGISTERED VERSION).  The REGISTERED VERSION of 
  226.      Image Master + will access the following additional file 
  227.      formats.  .DIB, .TGA, WMF, .EPS, .TIF, .JPG, CMP, .CAL, 
  228.      .IMG, .MAC, .MSP, .PCD, PCT, RAS, WPG.  NOTE: Photo CD 
  229.      images (.PCD) require Kodak's Access Software.
  230.   
  231.   5. You need not copy any picture or midi file to any other 
  232.      directory to use it.  IMAGE MASTER + can find and use 
  233.      your files from any valid hard drive, floppy or CD-ROM
  234.      drive and directory on your computer. 
  235.   
  236.   6. You can add or delete picture and midi files and set 
  237.      the picture delay through the standard setup button 
  238.      provided by windows for screen savers or by starting 
  239.      IMAGE MASTER + from the program manager by double clicking 
  240.      on its Icon.
  241.   
  242.   7. You can use scanned images as long as the image is 
  243.      saved in a format that is compatible with IMAGE MASTER 
  244.      (see 4. above for details.) 
  245.   
  246.   8. Pictures can be displayed as 1. Full Screen, 2. 75% of
  247.      screen, or 3. 50% of screen.  In this case screen 
  248.      refers to screen height.  Pictures will retain the 
  249.      correct aspect ratio regarless of Screen mode or screen
  250.      size selected.  You can elect to have your picture 
  251.      displayed with a frame around it or without frame.
  252.  
  253.   9. You can randomize the order in which your images are 
  254.      displayed. Click on the Randomize Picture Order check
  255.      box to choose this option.
  256.  
  257.  10. The speed that Image Master uses to put your images
  258.      to the screen can be adjusted.  Select Picture Attributes, 
  259.      then slide the selector bar to the slower or faster end of 
  260.      the adjuster bar to vary this speed.
  261.   
  262.  11. Any mouse button press and most keyboard keys will 
  263.      terminate Image Master and return you to the 
  264.      application you were using before Image Master 
  265.      started.  The following keys have special meaning.
  266.  
  267.     1.  If MIDI is selected, pushing the "M" key
  268.     on the keyboard will toggle the MIDI selections
  269.     playing to mute and back on again.
  270.  
  271.     2. If you have CD-Audio selected, pushing  the 
  272.     "space" bar will bring up an audio selector 
  273.     panel.  You can select Previous, Next, Play, 
  274.     Pause, and Stop with this selector bar.
  275.  
  276.     3. The "P" key will pause Image Master on the present 
  277.     image.  Pushing "P" again will toggle pause off.
  278.  
  279.  12.  You can use a Password to protect access to your 
  280.       computer when Image Master is running.
  281.  
  282.  13.  You can leave a message for any visitors you may 
  283.       have while you are away from your computer, or 
  284.       messages you may want to display to the public.
  285.  
  286.  14.  You can use Photo CD as a source for your pictures 
  287.       (REGISTERED VERSION ONLY).  You can also choose 
  288.       one of several options available for displaying 
  289.       your pictures such as gray scale and flipping your 
  290.       image.
  291.  
  292.  15.  CD-ROM audio is available in both the registered 
  293.       and unregistered versions.  If your CD-ROM is capable 
  294.       of playing CD-AUDIO, you can select it as the source 
  295.       of music for Image Master.
  296.  
  297.  16.  Touch Start is available.  The touch start Icon will
  298.       will set a "HOT" corner that will allow Image Master +
  299.       to be started by moving your mouse to the GREEN HOT 
  300.       CORNER of your screen.  Touch Start can be terminated
  301.       by moving your mouse to the RED CORNER of your screen.
  302.       You can place the touch start icon in your windows 
  303.       start up program group to have it run automatically
  304.       each time windows is started.  Activate the Touch
  305.       Start check box (in Utilities of Picture Attributes)
  306.       to have Touch Start reinstate itself after Image Master +
  307.       has run.  Touch the lavender line at the top center 
  308.       of the screen to activate the CSA utility shipped 
  309.       with this program.

  311. How do I register?
  312.  
  313.   1. How much? $19.95
  314.   
  315.   2. Your program is converted to the Registration version after
  316.      the proper registration code is received from Accidental 
  317.      Software and entered into the program.  You will need to 
  318.      supply Accidental Software the REGISTRATION ID number for  
  319.      your program.
  320.  
  321.   3. Obtain your REGISTRATION ID number from the Information
  322.      sub menu of REGISTRATION.  The REGISTRATION ID number is
  323.      also on your registration form if you decide to print one.

  325.   4. Call 1-800-771-6746 or 1-619-247-2804 with your Visa or 
  326.      MasterCard and we will provide you with the Registration 
  327.      Key number you need to convert your program to the registered 
  328.      version.  You can also FAX us at 1-619-247-6819 with your

  333.      along with a check or money order to Accidental Software.

  368. Common Questions!
  369.   
  370.   Q. When I double click on the Image Master Icon the program 
  371.      will not start.  What is happening? 
  372.      
  373.   A. Multiple instances of Image Master cannot be started.  If
  374.      the program was started by double clicking on its Icon
  375.      and a subsequent click outside the form hides the 
  376.      application, it is still running in the background.  
  377.      You need to bring up the Windows Task Manager to 
  378.      switch back to Image Master + or minimize the program 
  379.      manager to reveal Image Master +.  It is always best 
  380.      to end Image Master by clicking on the EXIT button 
  381.      in the Set Up form if you are not going to run the 
  382.      screen saver portion of the program immediately.
  383.      
  384.   Q. Can I use this program to display pictures of my 
  385.      business or family?
  386.   
  387.   A. Yes, you need to use a scanner to scan your image into 
  388.      a paint program.  Once an image is scanned and retouched 
  389.      as necessary, save it as any file format compatible
  390.      with this program.  Select the User Bit Maps option 
  391.      button in Image Master.  Find the file by clicking 
  392.      to the correct drive and directory.  Highlight this file 
  393.      or as many files as you want to add to the list of Bit Maps 
  394.      to show.  Once the file or files are highlighted, click 
  395.      the Add Files button to place them in the Bit Maps to Show
  396.      list box.  You can preview this or any file by double
  397.      clicking on its entry in the Bit Maps To Show window.  
  398.   
  399.      If your personal pictures are on a Photo CD, Image 
  400.      Master is the ideal tool for displaying them.
  401.   
  402.   Q. I want to use several of my own MIDI songs to be played 
  403.      by the program when my pictures are being displayed.  
  404.      How can I do this?   
  405.   
  406.   A. You can select any valid MIDI file ".mid" that is 
  407.      available on your hard disk.  It can be placed in a 
  408.      List of Songs to Play (up to 100) that will be played 
  409.      in order. Once the last file is played, the tunes will 
  410.      start over in a continuous loop. Choose the drive and 
  411.      directory that your MIDI files are on.  Highlight this 
  412.      file or as many files as you want to add to the list of 
  413.      Midi Files to Play.  Once the file or files are highlighted, 
  414.      click the Add Files button to place them in the list of
  415.      Midi Files to Play.  You can listen to any Midi file in 
  416.      the Midi Files To Play window by double clicking on it. 
  417.   
  418.   Q. When using JPG or other large 24 bit images with Image 
  419.      Master +, my MIDI music occasionally degrades.  Can this 
  420.      be prevented.
  421.  
  422.   A. These files have extremely high compression ratios, and 
  423.      as a result monopolize your processor so that there is 
  424.      no time left to play your MIDI file.  The only way to 
  425.      cure the problem is to covert your image file to a 
  426.      format the has less compression.  PCX and BMP 256 
  427.      color files will not interfere with the MIDI as the
  428.      pictures are decompressed.  You could also inactivate 
  429.      the Enable Music check box or Mute (press the "M" key 
  430.      on the keyboard) the MIDI so it will not play.  You
  431.      can listen to CD-Rom audio instead without interference
  432.      from highly compressed 24 bit images. 
  433.   
  434.   Q. When using Photo CDs to show my images with Image Master,
  435.      MIDI music I am using seems to degrade as some pictures  
  436.      are displayed.  How can I cure the problem?
  437.  
  438.   A. Very large 24 bit images can take a tremendous 
  439.      amount of processing power to decompress and decode.
  440.      These large files combined with the slow access time of
  441.      most CD-ROM drives can use your system resources so that
  442.      the processor time needed to play your MIDI files is no 
  443.      longer available. You could copy your PCD files to a hard
  444.      disk, the faster access time of a hard disk should help;  
  445.      insure you are using the Retain Bit Map Size option, then
  446.      choose a smaller display size for your images. You may 
  447.      have to disable your MIDI with the enable music check 
  448.      box or the "M" key on the keyboard if the problem persists 
  449.      and is bothersome.  
  450.   
  451. Uninstall.  
  452.     
  453.     Use this Icon to remove Image Master Plus from 
  454.     your hard drive.  This Icon will remove all files that were
  455.     installed to your hard drive by this program, with the 
  456.     following exceptions.
  457.  
  458.        MCI.VBX
  459.        THREED.VBX
  460.        VBRUN300.DLL                                                       
  461.  
  462.     These files may be required for other windows programs and
  463.     are not removed by uninstall for this reason.  These files
  464.     reside in your windows\system sub directory and can be 
  465.     manually removed if desired.  Uninstall will not remove
  466.     the Image Master Plus program group from windows.  The  
  467.     Image Master Plus program group must be removed in the 
  468.     usual manner by the user.
